Oh So Good...

I was very excited when I found these in the grocery store the other day. I was introduced to these when Julie went to England, oh so long ago. Then when I had the opportunity many years later to visit England, I kept these Hob Nobs on hand. I didn't care for the food in England, so these were my staple food items. I love having them with coffee (I'm not a tea drinker). The best thing is, Emma doesn't like them, so I don't have to worry about running out. I try to ration them to myself...is that possible?

Last Day of Preschool...

Yesterday was Emma's last day of preschool. I can't believe how fast it went. She did really well changing schools in the middle of the year and moving to a new state! We're so proud of her. Her teachers, Mrs. Jean and Mrs. Denise made each of the kids one these books...Next year will be her last year of preschool before starting kindergarten. Wow!

Another Day...

not much has been going on this week. Barry was gone to Dallas from Monday through Wednesday, so Emma and I held down the fort. She did really well, with her behavior and attitude, which always makes things run more smoothly.

Emma had her cheer leading today, at the Little Gym, which she has really been enjoying. I have her signed up to continue through the summer and I also have her registered for swim lessons. School gets out next Friday, so I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for the month of June. She will have VBS towards the end, and then two weeks later we go to California for vacation. So what's a Mom to do? I have several weeks the beginning of the month to fill. Hhhmmm, I do have some options, but I'm also trying to keep the cost down, so we'll see what happens.

Accidents Happen...

A few weeks ago Barry and I mentioned to each other that it might be time to "retire" the Little People since Emma had not been playing with them for awhile. However, this past week that's ALL she's been playing. So, the other day we're in the kitchen and we hear Emma making a bunch of noise about something. We walk over to where she's at and this is what we see:


Here you have the accident complete with the fireman and paramedic. From what we can gather, Emma was pushing the car on the hardwood floors and it slipped out from under her hands and off the edge to the tile in the kitchen. Thankfully no one was injured.

New Haircut...

I got a new haircut the other day! After trying three different stylist, I finally found one that knew what I wanted and how to execute it. I love it and it's so easy. We're still working on the back, at the neck- to get it cleaned up from the last "style," which I did not like.

Our New Church...

after visiting many churches in the area, we have decided on a church to attend, Houston Northwest (HNW). We are very excited to have finally chosen a place to plant ourselves. The church is just a few miles from our home, which is really nice because we traveled 18 miles in California to attend Mariners; but we loved it there! We joined a Sunday school class this morning on "parenting". We meet some really nice people who also have preschool age children going through much of the same issues Barry and I are with Emma. We felt very welcomed and encouraged.

Emma is signed up for VBS at HNW, Outrigger Island. This will be the first year she can attend without me having to volunteer! Yeah!! Barry and I will probably volunteer, at some point, in the children's ministry. After having worked at Mariners in the children's' ministry, I know how valuable volunteers are.

Headed Home...

today at 4:45 a.m. my parents headed back home to California. We had the privilege of having them stay with us for 2 weeks. It was sure wonderful to have them around and hang out with us. I took them around to see where we shop, go to church, Emma's preschool, the Woodlands Mall, downtown Houston and the Galleria area. We also went to Old Town Spring, where my mom enjoyed looking in the Amish Stores. My dad enjoyed pushing Emma on the swings and sitting on the front porch watching life happen. We took them for some authentic Mexican food, and to The Salt Grass Steak House- and for someone like me who does not enjoy red meat, I LOVE their steak. It's soooo yummy and my parents loved it too.

It's always a little strange when you've had company and they leave; it feels a little empty around here today. We, however, are looking forward to coming back to CA in July to see our family and friends again.
